Learn to build Drag-and-Drop Dashboards, configure Rule Engine alerts, and manage users in the system.

Objectives

Participants will be able to install and manage their own ThingsBoard instance on a VPS using Docker, create Drag-and-Drop Dashboards, design Rule Engines for automated alerts, and manage users in the system. Includes ready-to-use source code for KomomiBoard to kickstart a Smart Farm business immediately.

Module 1: Private IoT Platform Setup (VPS & Docker)

  • Understanding ThingsBoard IoT Platform architecture
  • Preparing VPS and installing Docker & Docker Compose
  • Deploying ThingsBoard CE via Docker with basic configuration

Module 2: Device & Telemetry Management

  • MQTT & HTTP data transmission architecture
  • Creating Device Profiles and registering devices
  • Monitoring and managing sensor telemetry data

Module 3: Drag-and-Drop Dashboard Design

  • Creating farm monitoring dashboards with Drag-and-Drop
  • Setting up Data Sources, Aliases, and Widget linking
  • Using Widgets: Time-series Charts, Gauge, Digital Led, Entity Tables
  • Optimizing UI/UX for Web and Mobile App display

Module 4: Remote Control & Parameter Configuration (RPC & Shared Attributes)

  • RPC: Creating button widgets to control relays in real-time
  • Shared Attributes: Setting server-side variables like moisture thresholds
  • Updating device logic without reflashing firmware

Module 5: Rule Engine & Alerts

  • Understanding Rule Engine structure (Rule Chains & Rule Nodes)
  • Writing data filter scripts (Filter Nodes)
  • Creating Alarms for anomalies and device disconnections
  • Configuring notifications to system administrators

Module 6: User & Tenant Management

  • Understanding Sysadmin, Tenant, and Customer hierarchy
  • Creating customers and setting user roles (User Roles)
  • Configuring Private/Public dashboards and sharing with clients

Module 7: Hands-on Workshop with KomomiBoard

  • Code Walkthrough: Complete source code from Komomi (ESP32)
  • Connecting KomomiBoard to your private ThingsBoard
  • Full-Loop testing: Sensor -> Dashboard -> Rule Engine -> Relay
  • Guidelines for scaling as a System Integrator
